Dear members

We do hope that you will be able to join us at our third AGM and Christmas party on Thursday 29th November at 7.30pm at the Andrew Hall

Following our AGM (which will be brief) we will present ‘A Sussex Christmas’, light-hearted readings on everything from mince pies to mummers’ plays to put you in a festive mood. Come and share a Christmas drink and enjoy some traditional Sussex food and find out about the origins of our Christmas customs and traditions and how the festive season was celebrated in Sussex through the ages.

This will be an informal occasion when we hope to be able to tap into your collective knowledge about life in Shipley and to discover if there are subjects you would particularly like to hear about. Mainly though, we want to say thank you for your support over the last three years and get to chat and enjoy your company over some traditional ‘wassail’ and delicacies.

Our best wishes to you and your families for a happy Christmas and New Year

Jean Wright
Secretary, Shipley History Society
